Softball Recap: Live Oak Acorns vs. Leigh Longhorns

Live Oak won the last time they faced Leigh and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Acorns came out on top against the Longhorns by a score of 12-8. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Acorns.

Julianna Altamirano made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025.

In other batting news, Quinn Dana- Hulberg was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Eden Svoboda, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Live Oak always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Leigh only posted an OBP of .343.

Live Oak's record is now 9-7. As for Leigh, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 14-7.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Live Oak will square off against rival Ann Sobrato at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Leigh is set to challenge their familiar foe Westmont at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
