Softball Recap: Norwalk Comes Up Short at Home Against Notre Dame Prep

Norwalk unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Notre Dame Prep Lancers by a score of 6-4 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bears have suffered since April 8, 2024.

Maddie Collins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Maddy Yusi and Ally Lanzarotto stepped up to the plate in a big way. Yusi scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4, while Lanzarotto scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

The victory got Notre Dame Prep back to even at 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Norwalk will head out to square off against Pomperaug at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Notre Dame Prep, they will take on Brookfield at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
