Basketball Recap: Hillcrest Christian Makes It Eight in a Row on the Road

On Tuesday, everything went the Hillcrest Christian Cougars's way against the Cathedral Green Wave as the Hillcrest Christian Cougars made off with a 68-44 victory. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th, while the Green Wave are ranked 253rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Hillcrest Christian to victory were Jordan Johnson and Jaivyn Carter. Johnson dropped a double-double on 24 points and 19 boards, while Carter dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards. Johnson continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Darius Barnes, who posted nine points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Hillcrest Christian's win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.9 points per game. As for Cathedral, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Hillcrest Christian will look to defend their home court on Friday against River Oaks at 7:30 p.m. As for Cathedral, they will head out on the road to square off against Bowling Green at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
