Basketball Recap: Rantoul Takes a Loss

Rantoul lost against Urbana back in February of 2020, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Rantoul Eagles took a 60-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Urbana Tigers. The Eagles just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Urbana's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaylen McElmurry led the charge by putting up 22 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which McElmurry has scored at least a third of Urbana's points. Jesse Mfwamba was another key player, posting 15 points.

Rantoul's defeat dropped their record down to 13-16. As for Urbana, their win bumped their record up to 8-16.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rantoul will take on Bloomington Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bloomington Central Catholic will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Rantoul surely won't give up without a fight. As for Urbana, they will face off against Richwoods at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Richwoods' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight contests.
