Basketball Game Preview: Druid Hills Red Devils vs. Lakeside Vikings

The Druid Hills Red Devils will take on the Lakeside Vikings in a tournament on Friday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Friday, Druid Hills had to suffer through a 86-29 loss at the hands of St. Pius X Catholic. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 476th, while the Golden Lions are ranked 107th).

Meanwhile, Lakeside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They took a 53-37 bruising from Chamblee.

Druid Hills will need focus on slowing down Sterling Pritchett, one of several Lakeside players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 15 points. Another player making a difference was Kareem Hopkins, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards.

Even though they lost, Lakeside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chamblee only pulled down four offensive boards.

Lakeside's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Druid Hills, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-8.

Druid Hills couldn't quite finish off Lakeside in their previous meeting back in December of 2015 and fell 70-68. Can Druid Hills avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
