Baseball Recap: Immaculata Drops Highest Score of Season Against Hillsborough

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Immaculata). They were the clear victors by a 15-6 margin over the Hillsborough Raiders on Thursday. With that win, the Spartans brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Jackson Trego tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Colin Kassai was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Jayden Capindica also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Immaculata always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in five consecutive matches.

Immaculata is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Hillsborough, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-9.

Looking ahead, Immaculata will head out on the road to take on Sayreville at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Hillsborough, they will be playing at home against Franklin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
