Basketball Recap: McAllen Memorial Takes a Loss

McAllen Memorial suffered their biggest loss since February 4th on Thursday. They came up short against the Miller Buccaneers, falling 74-53. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Buccaneers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

It was another big night for Charles Perry Jr, who dropped a triple-double with 32 points, ten boards, and 11 assists for Miller. With that strong performance, Perry Jr is now averaging an impressive 17.3 points per game. Roderick Taylor was another key player, putting up six points and ten rebounds.

McAllen Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Miller, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Looking ahead, McAllen Memorial will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Edinburg North at 6:00 p.m. The Mustangs' defense better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 53.6 points per game this season. As for Miller, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Madison at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. The Buccaneers will need to watch out since the Mavericks have now posted at least 55 points in their last six games.
