Basketball Recap: Washington Takes a Loss

Washington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 69-23 defeat at the hands of the Parkside Rams. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while the Rams are ranked 56th).

Parkside had a senior duo take command as Ziyon Smith posted 26 points and Zion Oge scored 21 points. With that strong performance, Smith is now averaging an impressive 15.5 points per game. Another player making a difference was Ta'Layah Clark, who put up ten points.

Washington's loss dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Parkside, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.

Washington won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Mardela at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Parkside has already played their next game (against Crisfield), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
