Basketball Recap: Ethan Holt's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Caprock Academy over Vail Christian

While it was all tied up 17-17 at halftime, Caprock Academy was not quite Vail Christian's equal in the second half on Saturday. They took a 52-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vail Christian Saints. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Saints recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Caprock Academy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Holt, who posted 13 points and three steals. Tristin Bird was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to six boards and five assists.

Vail Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Oliver Neumann, who went 5-for-12 on his way to 18 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave Neumann a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Rayman Romanin, who earned nine points along with seven boards and six assists.

Caprock Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Vail Christian, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Caprock Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Vail Christian, they will challenge Lotus School For Excellence at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
