Softball Game Preview: Buchholz Bobcats vs. Gainesville Hurricanes

Buchholz is 1-9 against Gainesville since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Bobcats will square off against the Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. Buchholz has given up an average of 7.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Buchholz managed to slip by Leon the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Bobcats lost 16-6 to the Lions on Saturday.

Quaniyah Robinson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-3. Kylee Wilson also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Gainesville unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against Trinity Catholic, falling 13-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Hurricanes have suffered since February 21st.

Gainesville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madisyn Gillins, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Buchholz's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Gainesville, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Buchholz hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Gainesville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.

Buchholz suffered a grim 11-2 defeat to Gainesville in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Bobcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
