Basketball Game Preview: Wells Warriors vs. Yarmouth Clippers

Wells is 1-9 against Yarmouth since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Wells Warriors will head out to face off against the Yarmouth Clippers at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Wells will head into Thursday's game on the come-up: they were handed a 28-point loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They skirted past Freeport 51-48.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Yarmouth's strategy against Cape Elizabeth on Saturday. Yarmouth was the clear victor by a 69-49 margin over Cape Elizabeth. Given the Clippers' advantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Capers are ranked 102nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wells' record now sits at 2-4. As for Yarmouth, their record now sits at 5-3.

Wells ended up a good deal behind Yarmouth in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, losing 76-57. Can Wells avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
