Softball Game Preview: Robstown Cottonpickers vs. Jourdanton Indians/Squaws

The Robstown Cottonpickers will take on the Jourdanton Indians/Squaws at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Robstown has seven straight wins, Jourdanton has eight straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Tuesday, Robstown earned a 7-4 victory over Calhoun.

Karina Trevino made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Olivia Morales was excellent, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one triple. Addison Warden also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, Jourdanton lost 16-5 to Sinton on Monday.

Jourdanton's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Robstown, their record now sits at 7-1.

Robstown suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Jourdanton when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Can Robstown avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
