Volleyball Recap: Woodward Academy Falls Short Against Ranked Lovett

Woodward Academy faced Lovett in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The War Eagles fell 2-0 to the Lions. That makes it the first time this season the War Eagles have let down their home crowd.

Lovett's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ali Wainwright, who had three digs and three aces. That's the most aces Wainwright has posted over her last six matches. The team also got some help courtesy of Margaux Godfrey, who had six digs and two aces.

Woodward Academy's loss dropped their record down to 13-2. As for Lovett, they pushed their record up to 14-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Woodward Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Shiloh on the 3rd. As for Lovett, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Grayson on the 4th.
