Softball Recap: Liberty Magnet Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against University Lab, Liberty Magnet was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Northeast Vikings an 18-0 shutout. The Patriots have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Vikings, too.

J'Niya Graham made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in earned runs (zero). She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in both of her plate appearances. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases.

In other batting news, Miracle Sanders was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four RBI. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Alyssia Bell was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

The win got Liberty Magnet back to even at 1-1.

Coming up, Liberty Magnet will challenge Plaquemine at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Northeast, they will take on Dunham at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northeast is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak dating back to last season.
