Baseball Recap: Monterey Takes a Loss

Monterey was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against the Lubbock-Cooper Pirates, falling 8-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Plainsmen of the 7-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Monterey saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joaquin Maldonado, who went 1-for-3 with one double. That double was Maldonado's first of the season.

Monterey's loss dropped their record down to 5-24-1. As for Lubbock-Cooper, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 17 of their last 19 matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 21-10 record this season.

While Monterey had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
