Softball Recap: Metuchen Comes Up Short

Metuchen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 9-1 to the South Plainfield Tigers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 10-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Metuchen saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alicia Montalbano, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Metuchen's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for South Plainfield, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Metuchen will take on Monroe Township at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Plainfield, they will head out to challenge St. Thomas Aquinas at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
