Hampton had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.1 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Saturday. They skirted past the Volunteer Falcons 76-74. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 67-59 back in December of 2025.

Hampton's victory bumped their record up to 16-8. As for Volunteer, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-10.

Hampton and Volunteer should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings. The Bulldogs will face off against Avery County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (144 vs. 289). Meanwhile, Volunteer (ranked 109th) will meet Grainger (ranked 283rd) at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
