Baseball Game Preview: Connell Eagles vs. College Place Hawks

Connell hasn't had much luck against College Place recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Hawks at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Connell will bounce into Wednesday's game after beating Royal, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Eagles came out on top against the Knights by a score of 11-8 on Tuesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Connell saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Vanhollebeke, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those runs were Vanhollebeke's first of the season.

Connell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

College Place not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 7, 2024 (when they won 10-0). Everything went their way against Kiona-Benton as they made off with a 9-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hawks.

Connell's record now sits at 12-5. As for College Place, their record is now 5-12.

Connell beat College Place 10-7 when the teams last played back in March. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
