They lost to the Anson Bearcats at home by a 49-35 margin. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 44-26 back in January.
Central Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Justice Hegwood, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. That was a full 45.7% of Central Academy's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points.
Anson was led to victory by Za'Kiah Hixson and Layla Britt. Hixson went 9 of 21 on her way to 24 points and five steals, while Britt scored 13 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Those five boards gave Britt a new career-high. Komoria Chambers was another key player, putting up eight points and 12 rebounds.
