Softball Recap: Lisle Lions vs. Streator Bulldogs
Lisle extended their losing streak to seven on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 4-14 in the process. They came up short against the Streator Bulldogs, falling 8-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-0 on Monday.
Lisle saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madysen Cole, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
As for Streator, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-17. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.
On Streator's side, Makenna Ondrey made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Ondrey has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caitlin Talty, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Mya Zavada was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two runs.
Looking ahead, Lisle will head out on the road to take on Aurora Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Streator, they will challenge Wilmington at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
