Frewsburg is 8-2 against Brocton since May of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Bears will take on the Bulldogs at 10:00 a.m. Frewsburg will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Frewsburg is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 21-7 margin over Pine Valley Central on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won 14 matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Gavin Weaver made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Frewsburg got a massive performance out of Maddox Sheesley, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That home run was Sheesley's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Mason Eckman, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Frewsburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .533. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Clymer Central/Sherman/Panama hit Brocton with a 11-run first inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bulldogs came up short against the Wolfpack, falling 12-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Bulldogs have suffered since April 7th.
Frewsburg pushed their record up to 15-5-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Brocton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.
Frewsburg was able to grind out a solid win over Brocton in their previous meeting on Thursday, winning 5-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
