South Salem and Sprague are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Saxons will head out to square off against the Olympians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South Salem has given up an average of 48.5 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
South Salem took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 63-55 victory over Grants Pass. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Saxons' offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Kellen Bowman had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 692 yards and five touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (121.7). A healthy portion of Bowman's aerial production (163 yards to be exact) went to Wongani Schlegel, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Sprague and North Salem had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Olympians enjoyed a cozy 21-7 win over the Vikings on Friday.
South Salem better keep an eye on Isaac Tindall. He was instrumental in Sprague's win, rushing for 145 yards and a pair of TDs. Mason Splonski also deserves some recognition as he rushed for his first rushing yards of the season.
One reason for the win was Sprague's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Bohdi Jones was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. The game marked his first with multiple sacks this season.
Sprague's record now sits at 2-3. As for South Salem, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
The upcoming contest will be a clash of competing strengths. South Salem has relied on air attacks this season and has averaged 428.8 passing yards per game. Sprague, on the other hand, has relied on a stout run game: they average 194 rushing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Friday? There's only one way to find out.
South Salem took a serious blow against Sprague when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 48-0. Can the Saxons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
