Basketball Recap: Farmington Gets the Win

Peoria Heights came into Wednesday's contest looking for another win against Farmington, but Lynsey Shriber wouldn't allow it. The Farmington Farmers were the clear victor by a 64-41 margin over the Peoria Heights Patriots on Wednesday thanks in part to Shriber, who posted 15 points. She is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for four straight games.

The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Zaborac, who had eight points. She is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games.

Despite the defeat, Peoria Heights saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sylvia Thornton dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thornton has scored all season. Mahala Mercer was another key player, putting up eight points and eight rebounds.

Farmington's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Peoria Heights, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-9.

Farmington will challenge Monmouth United at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Monmouth United will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Farmington surely won't give up without a fight. As for Peoria Heights, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Stark County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Peoria Heights has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
