Baseball Game Preview: Freeman Scotties vs. Asotin Panthers

The Freeman Scotties will take on the Asotin Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

Freeman came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Medical Lake, falling 11-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Scotties have suffered since March 28th.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Asotin, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They put the hurt on Colfax with a sharp 10-3 win on Tuesday. Considering the Panthers have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

CODY ELLS was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 13 batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Asotin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Colfax only posted an OBP of .323.

Asotin's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Freeman, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.
