Soccer Game Preview: Evergreen Park vs. St. Laurence

The Evergreen Park Mustangs will face off against the St. Laurence Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Evergreen Park has given up an average of 3.2 goals per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Evergreen Park is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Lemont just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Thursday. They came up short against the Lemont HS, falling 8-1. Evergreen Park were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 4-0.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Laurence). They never let Rosary get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory on Thursday. St. Laurence might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by three goals or more this season.

St. Laurence has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 23 goals over those six games. As for Evergreen Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.

Evergreen Park skirted past St. Laurence 2-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
