Lovejoy extended their postseason success on Friday against Emerson. They beat the Mavericks by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-1. The result was nothing new for the Leopards, who have now won 15 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Gisela Boitmann and Izzy Guarriello made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Boitmann pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Guarriello didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. Boitmann has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. At the plate, Boitmann went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Guarriello got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most hits Boitmann has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tess Lynch, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Addie George was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Lovejoy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Emerson only posted a batting average of .185.

Lovejoy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Emerson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-9-1.

Coming up, Lovejoy will face off against Midlothian Heritage on Saturday. Emerson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
