Baseball Recap: Oxford Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Oxford proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by 16) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Bellingham Blackhawks 9-7. The win was familiar territory for the Pirates, who have now won three games in a row.

Oxford's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Bellingham, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Coming up, Oxford will challenge Bay Path RVT at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Pirates 3.8, the Minutemen 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Bellingham, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Norwood at 4:00 p.m. on the 28th.
