Softball Game Preview: Culver City Centaurs vs. Beverly Hills Normans

For the second straight game, Culver City will face off against Beverly Hills. The Centaurs will square off against the Normans at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Culver City has five straight wins, Beverly Hills has 13 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Tuesday, Culver City made easy work of Beverly Hills and carried off a 20-1 victory. Considering the Centaurs have won seven matches by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Christen Hardy-Taylor, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Hayden Martin, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and one triple.

Culver City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .879. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .548 or higher in five consecutive games.

Culver City's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-11. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Beverly Hills, their loss dropped their record down to 0-12.
