Basketball Game Preview: Elmwood-Murdock Knights vs. Auburn Bulldogs

Elmwood-Murdock is 1-9 against Auburn since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Elmwood-Murdock Knights will venture away from home to challenge the Auburn Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Elmwood-Murdock is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They came out on top against Weeping Water by a score of 66-55 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Auburn over Palmyra in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Auburn blew Palmyra out of the water with a 74-32 final score. The matchup marked the Bulldogs' most dominant win of the season so far.

Auburn's victory was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for Elmwood-Murdock, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-4.

Elmwood-Murdock suffered a grim 57-35 defeat to Auburn when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Elmwood-Murdock avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
