Volleyball Recap: Ryan Hines Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Ashe County

Hickory took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Ashe County, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Red Tornadoes skirted past the Huskies 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Red Tornadoes.

Hickory got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ryan Hines out in front who had 13 assists and seven digs. Hines has been hot recently, having posted 13 or more assists the last three times she's played. Ella Kate Stewart was another key player, getting 12 digs and one assist.

Ashe County lost on Saturday despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Kinzley Blevins, who had 12 digs and two aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Finley, who had ten kills, ten digs, and two blocks.

Hickory's victory bumped their record up to 18-2. As for Ashe County, they moved to 16-5 with that defeat, which also ended their four-match winning streak.

Hickory has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against North Lincoln on the 23rd. As for Ashe County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-2 victory against Alexander Central on the 22nd.
