Softball Recap: Woodcrest Christian Takes a Loss

Woodcrest Christian had lost seven straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 6-12 to make it eight. They came up short against the Ontario Christian Knights, falling 11-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 22-8 back in March.

Woodcrest Christian saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zara Gallardo, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Ontario Christian, their record is now 10-8. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won seven games by eight runs or more so far this season.

On Ontario Christian's side, Miranda Salazar made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave Salazar a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

In other batting news, Hannah Demoff was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Alyse Campos was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Ontario Christian beat Woodcrest Christian by a score of 11-1 on Thursday.
