Basketball Recap: Churchill Takes a Loss

Churchill fought the good fight in their overtime game against Magruder on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 55-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Magruder Colonels. The Bulldogs just can't catch a break and have now endured eight defeats in a row.

Magruder found their leader in sophomore Zeke Dabbondanza, who went 8 of 11 on his way to 17 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. That's the most steals Dabbondanza has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Wilson, who posted six points and four steals.

Churchill's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Magruder, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-6.

Churchill has already played their next matchup (against Gaithersburg), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Magruder will challenge Seneca Valley at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Magruder's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.
