Basketball Recap: St. David's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

St. David came tearing into Thursday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 47-35 victory over the GRACE Christian Eagles. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 157th, while the Eagles are ranked 359th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

St. David's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Anna Hauser led the charge by putting up ten points along with five rebounds and three steals. Hauser is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Holmes, who posted nine points and six boards.

St. David's smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

St. David's has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for GRACE Christian, they dropped their record down to 5-11 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. David's won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against South Wake at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. South Wake has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 205 points over their last three games. As for GRACE Christian, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll challenge Wake Christian Academy at 5:15 p.m. on Friday.
