Volleyball Recap: Nevada Tigers vs. Bolivar Liberators

If Nevada was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of East Newton last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Nevada Tigers fell just short of the Bolivar Liberators by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Liberators apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Nevada sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 15-25, 25-17, 25-27, 15-4.

Even though they lost, Nevada was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. This was only their first loss (out of four games) when they serve at least ten aces.

Bolivar had a senior duo take command as Anna Vaughn had 12 digs and Rayna Wilson had three digs and 15 assists. Vaughn is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in the last three games she's played dating back to last season.

Nevada has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 23-9-1 record this season. As for Bolivar, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-18-1.

Nevada does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bolivar, they are on the road again on Wednesday to play Springfield Catholic at 6:00 p.m.
