Football Recap: Chaminade Starts Season with Victory Against Oaks Christian

Chaminade had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They took down the Oaks Christian Lions 42-27. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 24-17 loss the last time these two teams met.

Marquis Jones had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 121 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Cameron Pooley was another key player, throwing for 145 yards and two TDs.

Chaminade's defense stepped up as well, laying out Trey Towns Jr.. three times. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Michael Bonnet.

Despite the loss, Oaks Christian still got an impressive performance from Deshonne Redeaux, who rushed for 162 yards and a pair of scores on only 14 carries. Redeaux really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Sharp, who picked up 142 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chaminade will host Valencia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Oaks Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Sierra Canyon at 7:00 p.m. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 914 yards in their previous games.
