Soccer Preview: Huss vs. South Point
Huss is 0-10 against South Point since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Huss Huskies will head out on the road to face off against the South Point Red Raiders at 6:00 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Wednesday, it was close, but Huss sidestepped Ashbrook for a 3-2 win. The victory was just what Huss needed coming off of a 4-0 loss in their prior match.
Meanwhile, South Point waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They never let the Wildcats onto the board and left with a 9-0 win. Give South Point's defense some credit: that's the team's sixth straight shutout.
Their offense was hitting North Gaston from everywhere, as seven different players booted in a goal.
MacKenzie Crill led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.
Huss' victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for South Point, they pushed their record up to 7-2-2 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Huss might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from South Point in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can Huss avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
