Baseball Recap: Comstock Victorious

While Comstock's win against Bloomingdale wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Colts sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over the Cardinals on Thursday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-0 on Thursday.

Tyler Baker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 13 batters over 5.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. Baker was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kingston Price, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. Brent Wyatt also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Comstock and bumps their season record up to 2-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Bloomingdale, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Comstock will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Decatur at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Raiders will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Colts surely won't give up without a fight. As for Bloomingdale, they will challenge Bangor at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
