Softball Game Preview: Wellington Dukes vs. Open Door Christian Patriots

The Wellington Dukes are taking a road trip to take on the Open Door Christian Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Wellington has given up an average of 9.2 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Wellington lost 20-4 to Keystone on Thursday.

Wellington saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mallory Pickering, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple marked the first that Pickering has hit this season.

Central Christian hit Open Door Christian with a seven-run second inning last Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Patriots came up short against the Comets, falling 14-4.

Open Door Christian's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Wellington, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Wellington took their win against Open Door Christian in their previous matchup on April 4th by a conclusive 7-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dukes since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
