There's no place like home for Portsmouth, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Wheelersburg Pirates 4-3. That's more bragging rights for the Trojans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Leelind Scurlock looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Portsmouth's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Trevin Brooks, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Portsmouth pushed their record up to 17-7-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Wheelersburg, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-7.

Portsmouth and Wheelersburg are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Trojans will challenge Northwest at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wheelersburg, they will face off against Wellston at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Pirates 2.5, the Golden Rockets 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
