Softball Recap: West Charlotte Lions vs. Mallard Creek Mavericks
West Charlotte had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 6-9 to make it four. They lost 17-2 to the Mallard Creek Mavericks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mavericks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 20-12 back in March.
As for Mallard Creek, their record now sits at 8-12. They not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 1st (when they won 15-0).
For Mallard Creek's part, Madison Williams was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Williams was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mena Kuzara, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Makaila Murray was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and three runs.
Coming up, West Charlotte will challenge Chambers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
