Softball Recap: Whitewright Continues Road Dominance on Tuesday

Whitewright made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Trenton, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Whitewright blew past Trenton 16-9 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Whitewright has posted against Trenton since March 5, 2021.

Whitewright let Joslyn Jones and Mac Barnett run wild. Jones went 4-for-6 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles, while Barnett went 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those four hits gave Jones a new career-high. Courtney Brumley was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-6.

Whitewright was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .558. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Whitewright's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Trenton, their loss ended a 14-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-2.

Whitewright and Trenton should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Whitewright will take on Collinsville at 5:30 p.m. on Friday up 498 places (478 vs. 976). Meanwhile, Trenton (ranked 307th) will meet Dodd City (ranked 1115th) at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
