Recap: Winter Haven Blue Devils vs. Dillard Panthers
On Saturday, Winter Haven beat Dillard 52-40. Given Winter Haven's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Dillard is ranked 71st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Winter Haven's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Quin?nya Gray de sanders, who scored 19 points along with two steals. Gray de sanders has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Serenity Hardy, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Winter Haven has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Dillard, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-7.
Winter Haven's road trip will continue as they head out to face Oak Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. As for Dillard, they will be playing at home against American Heritage at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. American Heritage is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
