Softball Recap: Wooster Takes a Loss

Wooster had lost five straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 4-16 to make it six. They came up short against the Dover Crimson Tornadoes, falling 8-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Crimson Tornadoes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 22-3 on Tuesday.

Emily Boyd made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

As for Dover, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-3. The result was nothing new for the Crimson Tornadoes, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

On Dover's side, Jenna Molk was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Molk has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, firing off three home runs, four RBI, and one stolen base while going 3-for-3. Those three home runs gave her a new career-high.

Molk wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Charlie Reese, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another was Avery Contini, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Wooster will challenge Ashland at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Generals are facing the Arrows at the right time seeing as the Arrows are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Dover, they are taking a road trip to face off against Circleville at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
