Basketball Recap: Cibola Skates Past Manzano with Ease

Cibola won the last time they faced Manzano and things went their way on Saturday too. The Cibola Cougars breezed by the Manzano Monarchs to the tune of 77-47. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Monarchs are ranked 70th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Manzano still got an impressive performance from Bryce Johnson, who went 8 for 14 en route to 21 points and five boards.

Cibola is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.4 points per game. As for Manzano, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Cibola wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 70-60 win against Rio Rancho on the 28th. Manzano has also already played their next matchup, a 70-34 loss against Sandia on the 28th.
