Basketball Recap: Northridge Knights vs. Syracuse Titans

A win for Northridge just wasn't in the cards on Tuesday as the team wasn't able to take the lead at any point. They came up short against the Syracuse Titans, falling 55-34. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Titans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.

Loss or not, Northridge got some senior leadership from Karlee Mayfield and Izabel Kap. Mayfield posted eight points in addition to eight rebounds, while Kap almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. Mayfield is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 12 games she's played dating back to last season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Syracuse to victory, but perhaps none more so than Maylee Anderson, who scored 12 points in addition to eight assists and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Anderson a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was Aubri Stoker, who went 5 for 9 en route to 12 points plus five rebounds and two steals.

Northridge's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northridge will welcome Summit Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Syracuse, they will be defending their home-court for the first time this season they go up against Roy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
