League recap: Stevens dominating on the mound for Surry Central

2A/1A Northwest league recap: 3/20/13

2A/1A Northwest's top pitcher this week was Surry Central's Austin Stevens. He picked up one win and 12 strikeouts.

Top honors in the league this week go to West Stokes, which finished with three wins overall, good for best in the league. The Wildcats beat East Surry 7-2, North Surry 16-0 and Central Davidson 9-2.

The Golden Eagles boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks.

The week's strikeout crown belonged to Stevens, who turned in 12 Ks for Surry Central. He's second in the league with 31 total strikeouts.



The Golden Eagles' Stevens struck out 12 the Cardinals hitters en route to a 3-1 victory on March 19. Over his seven innings pitched he allowed one run on six hits.
