Softball Recap: Coconino Panthers vs. Poston Butte Broncos
With a playoff win on the line, Coconino rose to the challenge on Thursday. They blew past the Poston Butte Broncos 13-2. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 22 matches by six runs or more this season.
Kaitlyn Tso made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 31 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with five RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Katelynn Yazzie was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two runs. Hailey Householder was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Coconino was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Poston Butte only posted a batting average of .167.
