Volleyball Recap: West Vikings vs. North Stars
If West was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of East Bakersfield last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Vikings came up short against the North Stars on Monday, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Vikings have suffered since August 28th.
West couldn't get the W, but boy did they fight for it: two sets took extra rallies. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 25-19, 28-26.
Jayla Graham-Smith paced West's offense, picking up 13 kills. Graham-Smith got some help from Marciela Dizon and her 24 assists. Alexis Dizon controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.
North's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from London Kleeman, who had seven kills and three aces. Kleeman is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Presleigh Buntin, who had 22 assists.
West's loss ended a three-match streak of away wins and brought them to 14-9-1. As for North, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-10-1 record this season.
West will welcome South at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for North, they will head out on the road to square off against Arvin at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
