Softball Recap: Montoursville Comes Up Short

Montoursville entered their game against Mifflinburg on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Warriors fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Warriors have suffered since April 25, 2024.

This is the second loss in a row for Montoursville and nudges their season record down to 10-6. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Mifflinburg, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-3.

Montoursville and Mifflinburg should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Warriors will challenge Milton at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (107 vs. 316). Meanwhile, Mifflinburg (ranked 57th) will meet Selinsgrove (ranked 432nd) at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in the Wildcats' favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while the Seals have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
