Football Game Preview: Vista del Lago Eagles vs. Woodcreek Timberwolves + How To Watch

The Vista del Lago Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Woodcreek Timberwolves at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Vista del Lago has given up an average of 37.3 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Vista del Lago is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Inderkum on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Eagles took a blow against the Tigers, falling 45-17. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 323rd, while the Tigers are ranked 85th).

Meanwhile, Woodcreek put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Christian Brothers 52-7. That looming 52-7 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Timberwolves yet this season.

Vista del Lago better focus on containing Josiah Melendez and Jaxson Karavlan as the pair were huge in Woodcreek's win. Melendez rushed for 84 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries, while Karavlan rushed for 120 yards and one touchdown on only six carries. That's the most rushing yards Melendez has posted since back in September of 2024. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Jack Torrey, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Woodcreek was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 300 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Woodcreek's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Vista del Lago, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Vista del Lago didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Woodcreek in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 28-24 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
